The Senior Software Engineer role is based within our Mission Systems business area.

The role

The difference our new Senior Software Engineer will make

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll work as part of a team to develop software capabilities and work on a range of exciting projects from proof of concept through to customer delivered products and throughout the software lifecycle.

Day to day, you will lead a small developing team, leading them through the delivery process and contribute to requirements capture, design, development, test and delivery of software applications and products. You’ll also troubleshoot, analyse and fix issues on existing systems and present products and solutions externally to customers and internally to senior management.

Essential experience

•    A solid background of object-oriented software development using C++ and C#
•    Development of systems utilising technologies such as JSON and databases such as SQLite. Familiar with using and creating APIs.
•    Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking including development for data exchange and transmission
•    Hardware integration and configuration – for example integration of communications hardware (e.g. modems, radio receivers, cryptographic equipment) 
•    An understanding of software engineering lifecycles and best practices
