The role

As an Information Security Advisor, you'll support governance, risk and compliance activities across Mission Systems, working closely with the Information Security Manager to promote best practice, improve security awareness and help build a positive security culture. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in information security, cyber governance, risk management or compliance within a purpose-driven organisation.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

 

  • Supporting the ongoing alignment of the Information Security Management System and ISO 27001 certification requirements
  • Leading the coordination and delivery of internal audit activities that support information security compliance
  • Tracking audit findings and driving timely follow-up actions and remediation activities
  • Assisting with security training, education and awareness initiatives across the business
  • Providing guidance on information security risks, policies, documentation and Information Asset Owner responsibilities

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and at least one day working from home.  Candidate needs to be able to travel to Bristol.

 

Essential experience of the Information Security Advisor

  • Experience working within an information security, governance, risk, compliance or IT environment
  • Exposure to structured governance frameworks such as ISO 27001 or similar compliance standards
  • Understanding of core information security principles, including risk awareness and data handling practices
  • Experience maintaining accurate records, documentation and compliance-related information
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

 

Qualifications for the Information Security Advisor

  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISMP, ISO27001 foundation) would be advantageous but not essential

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
