The role
As a Head of Service Operations, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is an exciting role leading a team of IT professionals, who produce both bespoke software applications through to integrated Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) products for a customer base of 10,000 users within an organisation that has a longevity of project work within the Defence and Civil Nuclear arenas. 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll provide specialist knowledge management and technical expertise on a range of products, technologies and collaborative solutions that support both the internal and external, predominantly within the Defence and Civil Nuclear arenas.  

 

  • Shaping and guiding the service function within Digital Solutions, including Infrastructure, Service Desk, Change and Problem Management.
  • Leadership and professional development of a team of circa 30.
  • Accountability for service outputs, including KPI and SLA adherence.
  • Managing budgets from across a number of contracts ensuring cost effective delivery.
  • Integral member of the Senior Leadership team, representing all aspects of service delivery.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Babcock Technology Centre.

 

Essential experience of the Head of Service Operations 

  • Extensive experience in IT service management gained in organisations where IT is considered critical to success.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience of getting the best from people.
  • Proven experience of working in secure environments with MOD experience - Desirable.
  • Proven experience in running a service operation, scoping and designing service elements of IT solutions.
  • Experience of running a service function to ISO27001, ISO20000 and ITIL standards.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
