The role
As a Head of Electrical Services, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Head of Electrical Services is an integral part of Mission Systems, sitting within the Engineering and Technology Discipline, and accountable to the CEO for UK Mission Systems.
Day-to-day, you’ll to manage the operation and maintenance of electrical power distribution networks including high voltage installations and associated systems across multiple operational sites within Mission Systems.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all electrical work across Mission Systems operational sites complies with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and other relevant legislation.
- Stay updated with changes in electrical safety regulations and standards and ensure any relevant good practice, and changes are sufficiently captured and disseminated.
- Safety Protocols: Develop and implement safety protocols to prevent electrical hazards.
- Ensure that all electrical installations and equipment are safe and properly maintained including obsolescence management.
- Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate electrical hazards.
- Please note that this position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and can be delivered from any of our UK wide sites alongside home working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Head of Electrical Services – Power Systems
- Significant hands-on experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and testing.
- Experience in managing electrical safety within an industrial or commercial setting.
- In-depth understanding of electrical systems, components, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in conducting electrical risk assessments and implementing control measures.
- Strong skills in developing and implementing safety protocols to prevent electrical hazards.
Qualifications for the Head of Electrical Services – Power Systems
- A degree in electrical engineering or a related field is desirable.
- Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) or working towards.
- Certification as an Authorised Person (AP) or similar, demonstrating competence in electrical safety and compliance.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
