The Role
An exciting opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated Fluid Analyst is available within our Mission Systems business unit. The role would see you joining the Analysis, Modelling & Simulation Team.
Day-to-day, you’ll work within the Analysis, Modelling & Simulation Team, to provide specialist analysis across Mission Systems and the wider Babcock Group. This includes the provision of customer facing qualification evidence for both mechanical and fluid systems on the boat and ship platforms.
- Supporting the delivery of fluid analysis to budget and timescale.
- Origination of fluid analysis documents produced by the team.
- Contributing towards the development of fluid analysis methodology to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Supporting the development of fluid methods to ensure the Analysis, Modelling & Simulation Team are using the latest techniques and can address customer requirements, e.g., compressible or multiphase CFD analyses.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential Experience of the Fluid Analyst
- Experience in fluid analysis in a high integrity environment, e.g., nuclear, defence preferable but not essential.
- Understanding of first principle fluid dynamics.
- Experience using Computational Fluid Dynamics (Babcock use Fluent and CFX), 1D modelling (Babcock use Python, Matlab and AMESim).
- Experience / awareness of transient 2D and 3D analysis.
Qualifications for the Fluid Analyst
- Mechanical Degree, or HND or HNC in an Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability.
- Registered with a relevant Engineering Institution and working towards Professional Registration desirable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate must obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
