As a Cyber Security Lead, you’ll lead cyber security across a complex defence infrastructure programme, ensuring the highest standards of information security, risk management and compliance are embedded from design through to delivery.
Day-to-day, you’ll influence decisions at every stage, protecting critical systems and enabling secure, resilient operations. This is an opportunity to play a key role in national security while developing your expertise in a highly collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
- Providing expert oversight across all cyber security activities, ensuring compliance with security standards and best practice
- Acting as the primary cyber security contact for Ministry of Defence clients and programme partners, aligning security strategies with programme objectives
- Conducting risk assessments and vulnerability analyses, identifying threats and implementing effective mitigation strategies
- Overseeing the secure design and architecture of programme systems throughout the lifecycle
- Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to integrate secure solutions across complex engineering programmes
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Cyber Security Lead
- Relevant experience of the Maritime Defence and MOD IT Domain, including knowledge of Government/MOD IA policy and process including JSP440, JSP453, JSP628, DIANs and NCSC IA guidance.
- Able to demonstrate the application of contextualised risk management in the application of technical/procedural/physical security controls within the risk/cost/benefit space.
- Security Documentation management to include - but not limited to - review and update of related IA documents including RMADS, Security Cases, SyOPs, Business Impact Assessments, Data Protection Impact Assessments, Risk Registers, DART/Oculus entries, Risk Balance Cases, Information Asset Owner forms, Supplier Assurance Questionnaires.
- Experienced in relevant Security Policy and Cyber Security Frameworks including the GovS 007, MOD Secure by Design (SbD), ISO27001 - Information Security Management Systems, NIST, NCSC IA Guidance
- Proven ability to engage stakeholders and provide clear, authoritative cyber security advice
Qualifications for the Cyber Security Lead
- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience - Essential
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
