The role
As a Cyber Security Operations Centre Analyst, you’ll be at the heart of Babcock’s digital defence, protecting critical infrastructure and supporting national security. You’ll work with cutting-edge security tools and collaborate with experts across the business and the Ministry of Defence. Day-to-day, you’ll monitor and maintain cyber security across data centre platforms by using advanced security tools, collaborating with internal and external teams, ensuring robust system documentation, and continuously improving cyber monitoring infrastructure.
- Undertaking threat monitoring using security tools such as Splunk, Cribl, Solarwinds, McAfee EPO, Eracent, and Tripwire.
- Ensuring high levels of security on supported data centre platforms, working with third-party vendors and internal/external security teams.
- Maintaining and tuning monitoring tools, ensuring healthy ingestion of logging events into the SIEM.
- Keeping documentation, procedures and processes up to date and supporting internal/external penetration testing and vulnerability scans.
- Maintaining and upgrading cyber monitoring infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Cyber Security Operations Centre Analyst:
- Experience using Windows and/or Linux operating systems, with strong IT system administration skills.
- Understanding of applying cyber monitoring tools to hosted applications and IT systems.
- Knowledge of patch management for hardware, software, and services, including Windows and Linux systems/applications.
- Some knowledge of MoD specific security systems and processes is desirable but not essential.
- Demonstrable experience and a passion for cyber defence are highly valued.
Qualifications for the Cyber Security Operations Centre Analyst:
- Relevant IT or cyber security qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
