The Role
As a Cost and Estimating Discipline Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role creates an exciting challenge to the successful candidate, providing them with the opportunity to shape a new role in a new organisational structure and to take a leading role in the business.
Day-to-day, you will work with the other Discipline Leads to ensure best practice approaches, governance and techniques, in line with Group policies, are embedded as part of our local operating models and project delivery lifecycle – focusing on instilling strong foundations and forward looking, proactive approaches to delivery.
- Responsible for supporting the integration of new enterprise level planning & scheduling management toolsets, ensuring standardised and co-ordinate use across the entire portfolio.
- Also, you will be responsible for leading the community of individuals specialised in planning & scheduling, including professional development, mentoring and coaching.
- Work with the Operations Lead to generate a pipeline of suitably qualified and experienced planning & scheduling professionals in line with related delivery demand across the portfolio.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with up to 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential Experience of the Cost and Estimating Discipline Lead
- Proven experience in a similar role with the gravitas to lead from the front.
- Significant experience of project estimating and cost management / control techniques and approaches, including estimating, forecasting, performance reporting (i.e. EVM) and quantitative risk analysis etc.
- Comprehensive experience of delivering/leading estimating and cost management within projects and programmes for large and technically complex equipment or system delivery contracts.
- Experience of using, or working alongside, related software tools such as MSP, P6, Active Risk Manager, RiskHive, Deltek Cobra, Safran or Primavera Risk Analyser etc.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to interact successfully at all levels.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate will be able to start on Standard (BPPS) security clearance but will need to obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
