About the role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a Commercial Manager.

 

You’ll be responsible for a team that will provide day-to-day commercial management of the ‘new build ‘Qualifying Defence Contract (QDC) contract. You will act as the lead commercial interface with both internal Babcock stakeholders as well as the customer and other outside agencies/organisations. You will assist with the strategic commercial management of the contracts and provide commercial support to the wider submarine business; including new business winning activities (bids) and support the supply chain function with respect to flow down contracting conditions.

 

- Provide commercial expertise and governance to internal stakeholders for tenders and contract reviews, processes, policies and commercial risks;
- Act as an escalation point for high risk, complex commercial issues and liaise with legal teams to coordinate legal advice;
- Provide advice and drafting in relation to client and supplier terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with all internal processes;
- Be competent and confident with interacting with clients and will work to develop positive client relationships in order to represent the company to negotiate price, terms and scope;
- Oversee the production of complex change orders to existing contracts together with gathering and assessing evidence to support contract change;

What do I need to do the role?
You’ll need to be educated to degree with relevant degree (ideally Business or Law) or equivalent qualification or relevant experience, have significant commercial experience in robust management of large and complex contracts, bids and change initiatives in a regulated environment, demonstrable evidence of developing effective customer relationships and confident at negotiating independently within agreed delegations and have the ability to effectively lead and develop a team.
