Shape the future of defence nuclear capability across the United Kingdom and Australia

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as an AUKUS Nuclear Campaign Director at any of our main UK locations.

The role

As an AUKUS Nuclear Campaign Director, you’ll have a rare opportunity to take a leading role in one of the most significant strategic defence and nuclear programmes of our generation. AUKUS represents a multi-decade collaboration spanning submarine sustainment, infrastructure development, workforce capability, nuclear stewardship and future defence capability. As a senior leader within our Nuclear Sector, you will help shape how Babcock delivers world-class outcomes that strengthen national security, support international partnerships and create lasting impact for future generations.

Day-to-day, you’ll act as the Nuclear Sector lead for all AUKUS activity across Babcock, ensuring our capabilities, expertise and solutions are aligned to campaign objectives and customer needs. Working at the heart of a high-profile international programme, you'll bring together specialist knowledge from across the business to develop integrated, credible and deliverable solutions that support defence nuclear capability across the United Kingdom and Australia. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making at the highest levels while accelerating your own leadership and professional development within a globally recognised engineering organisation.

  • Leading Nuclear Sector engagement across all AUKUS campaign activities and strategic initiatives.
  • Developing integrated solutions by bringing together expertise from Naval Nuclear, Major Nuclear Capital Projects, Cavendish Nuclear and wider Nuclear functions.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, government bodies, regulators and key stakeholders across the United Kingdom and Australia.
  • Aligning sector capability, resources and delivery plans with campaign strategy and long-term programme objectives.
  • Providing senior leadership input as a member of the Nuclear Senior Leadership Team and acting as a key interface across Babcock businesses and delivery organisations.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based at any of our main UK locations. Travel to other Babcock and customer sites will be expected.

Essential experience of the AUKUS Nuclear Campaign Director

  • Senior leadership experience within defence nuclear, naval nuclear or highly regulated infrastructure sectors.
  • Extensive knowledge of submarine sustainment, nuclear operations, infrastructure delivery or major nuclear programmes.
  • Proven track record of leading complex, multi-stakeholder programmes and strategic initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of customer, regulatory and government stakeholder environments.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and delivering outcomes within large-scale, complex organisations.

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering, technical or related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.

Desirable:

  • Experience of United Kingdom Defence Nuclear Enterprise programmes.
  • Experience working with Australian or international defence customers.
  • Experience supporting major bids, campaigns or strategic growth initiatives.
  • Understanding of AUKUS and broader defence industrial collaboration.
