Quantity Surveyor

About the role


Here at Babcock International, we’re looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join the team.


You will be accountable for the commercial administration of a contract (or contracts), ensuring compliance with the contract terms and conditions and Company and Group policies, procedures and delegated authorities.


Through appropriate contract administration, risk management and negotiation, you will manage the contract(s) effectively to deliver or improve the agreed profitability and cash projections, informing line management and seeking guidance as and when required.


You will also develop and maintain client, supply chain and business function relationships, and ensure the core values of the Company are upheld at all times.


Further responsibilities include:
• Provide information to measure the financial performance of projects against targets
• Produce relevant information for preparation of subcontract enquiries and subsequent awards to agreed timescales
• Assist in the preparation of estimates for bids
• Prepare and submit change control requests
• Produce and submit applications for payment and track their certification and payment in-line with contractual terms and conditions
• Produce and input all information relevant to the CVR


What do I need to do the role?


You must hold BSc (hons) in Quantity Surveyor or equivalent qualification, and RICS membership or work towards.


You will have proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within the Rail industry, and of working with and managing sub-contractors.


You will also possess awareness of cost control measures, be experienced in procurement strategies and processes, and of working with and to various contract types and commercial terms having delivered on individual contracts with a value up to £5m.


NEC contract experience would be a distinct advantage.


What else do I need to know?


This role is based in Belfast, there will be a requirement to travel around Northern Ireland very occasionally.
