The role

As a Transport Manager, you’ll lead the delivery, compliance and performance of transport services at RAF Halton. You’ll join an established and supportive team, where you’ll drive innovation, improve working practices and ensure the effective, safe and compliant management of all transport activities on site. This is an opportunity to make a real impact, shaping how services are delivered while supporting essential military operations.

 

Day-to-day, you will:

 

  • Manage, coordinate and oversee all transport activities and transport staff.
  • Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, standards and internal procedures.
  • Act as the named Transport Services Manager and CPC Holder for the Babcock Passenger and Goods Vehicle Operator Licence.
  • Drive continuous improvement across transport operations, refining processes and ways of working.
  • Liaise with RAF Unit Staff and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional service and meet operational and financial targets.

 

This role is full time working 39 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Halton, Buckinghamshire. Shift patterns include working Monday–Thursday 08:00–17:00 and Friday 08:00–16:00.

 

Essential experience of the Transport Manager:

Defence Transport Manager (DTM) experience.

 

Qualifications for the Transport Manager:

  • Certificate of Professional Competence – Passenger Transport International (NVQ Level 3).
  • Certificate of Professional Competence – Road Haulage International (NVQ Level 3).
  • Full UK clean driving licence.
  • Current ADR Awareness Instructor qualification (valid for five years).

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
