The role
As a Metalwork & Machine Shop Fitter you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional products and infrastructure. 


Day-to-day, you’ll carry out manufacturing and repair tasks as directed by the Charge-Hand & Supervisor, as well as:

  • Implement the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) within his/her area of responsibility. 
  • The continual monitoring and review of RISK and COSHH assessments relative to their areas of responsibility.
  • Complete the routine maintenance on Metal Shop machinery as detailed in MAM-P documentation. 
  • The reporting of defective machinery when faults occur. And reporting of defective technical accommodation and machinery as faults occur.


This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Halton

 

Essential experience of the Metalwork & Machine Shop Fitter:

  • Machinist Background
  • Metal Fabrication typist
  • Knowledge of material auditing and accounting
  • Proficient in the use of the manual equipment and tools
  • Desirable military background
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.).
  • Excellent understanding of machining techniques and methods of metal fabrication and construction.


Qualifications for the Metalwork & Machine Shop Fitter:

  • City & Guilds or equivalent Trade Qualification. Or equivalent NVQ level

  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC Clearance.
