The role
As a Driver you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll have a key role working within a small but highly effective Transport Services team, where the highest standards will be expected. You'll be required to drive and operate a wide range of general and specialist vehicles, from Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV, which include cars, minibuses and coaches), to rigid Large Goods Vehicles (LGV). You'll be responsible for making sure RAF personnel, equipment and vehicles get to the right place, at the right time!
Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for:
- Driving and insuring vehicle is fit for purpose, in maintenance and cleanliness.
- Update all documentation before and after through standard checks and written documentation.
- Reporting all defects in a time bound process
- Carry out all driving tasks as requested; this will include car driving for the senior stakeholders.
This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Halton, near Aylesbury You'll work an average of 39 hours a week on a shift basis, however you'll need to be flexible as there may be changes to the roster from time to time, to meet customer needs. The roster is made up of earlies 06:00-13:30 Mon-Fri, Lates 13:00-20:30 Mon-Fri, Days 08:00-17:00 Mon-Thurs and 08:00-16:00 Fri. Days 07:30-16:30 Mon-Thurs and 07:30-15:30 Fri. One weekend duty every eight weeks, 06:30-18:30, the appropriate days off will be given during the week to avoid working seven days in that week. On average, possibility 1 weekend on rota. All potential candidates must reside no more than one hour from the RAF Halton site.
Essential experience of the Driver:
- Experience of working with similar type vehicles.
- Diplomacy is required within the role previous examples of similar experience essential.
- Experienced with required driving documentation such as Tachograph
Qualifications for the Driver:
You'll need a current and valid Driving Licences:
- Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV) DVLA Licence category D and Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) DVLA Licence Category C
- Digital tachograph card, with sound knowledge of Driver's Hours Regulation in accordance with EU Directive 561/2006
- Must have held a Cat B licence for 3 years, maximum 3 points and must be over the age of 21 years
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
