Babcock New Zealand are looking for a Trades Assistant to join the Production team on the Devonport Naval Base.

  • $29 per hour
  • 1.5x after 40hrs, 2x after 43hrs

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Perform Trade Tasks: Carry out various trade-related tasks for maintenance, repair, and installation, including painting, safety checks, and surface preparation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure safety by certifying compartments, conducting gas tests, and operating equipment safely.
  • Maintenance Support: Assist other maintenance teams during busy periods and collaborate with different departments.
  • Self-Management: Manage your own performance and contribute to team objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively seek and lead improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Required Skills

 

  • Basic Trade Skills: Apply basic trade knowledge in a practical environment to complete work tasks effectively.
  • Welding Proficiency(highly regarded): Demonstrate proficiency in welding techniques, ensuring quality and safety standards are met in the fabrication and welding department.
  • Decision-Making: Make quick and confident decisions, especially in emergency situations.
  • Technical Competence: Interpret and follow instructions, technical drawings, and plans accurately.
  • Safety Awareness: Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, actively promoting a safety culture within the organization.
