Babcock is looking for a Senior Management Accountant to join the high-performing financial team on the Devonport Naval Base.

Key Responsibilities


  • Financial Insights: Develop and maintain financial reporting, management models, and tools, providing genuine insights based on data and facts for reporting and analyzing the organization's financial performance.
  • Accurate Reporting: Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial and management reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to agreed timelines. Analyze, report, and validate project costs, and submit tax reports to fiscal authorities.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and monitor procedures and controls to support the efficient operation of the Finance function. Review and approve general ledger reconciliations, journals, and accruals to ensure accuracy.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Develop strong and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication, issue resolution, and confidence in the financial information provided.
  • Team Culture: Promote a positive team culture that aligns with Babcock's purpose and principles. Drive and communicate best practice accounting processes throughout the organization.


About you


The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Commerce, is a Chartered Accountant member, and brings a wealth of experience in complex accounting systems.


They possess advanced spreadsheet skills, ERP system knowledge, and a keen analytical mindset. With excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, the perfect applicant will thrive in a collaborative environment, building strong relationships with stakeholders and driving best practices in accounting processes. Innovation and flexibility are desirable qualities that will set them apart.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced spreadsheet skills and knowledge of ERP systems, ensuring effective management and monitoring of finance systems.
  • Communication: Comprehensive communication skills, both written and oral, to liaise with stakeholders and convey financial information effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy and attention to detail in preparing financial reports and forecasts.
