The Senior Engineering Technician (Supportability) (Maintenance)


About the role 


Reporting to the Maintenance Development Manager, the Senior Engineering Technician will support and conduct technical maintenance investigations of weapon engineering systems and sensors systems, corrective and preventive maintenance task administration, prepare maintenance artefacts, and engage with stakeholders within the maintenance community.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Supporting and conducting technical maintenance investigations into all assigned maintenance management amendments with regards to weapon engineering systems (weapon systems and/or sensor systems) and presenting the outcomes for review and/or approval.
  • Provide technical recommendations and advice based on proven engineering principles and evidence-based analysis.
  • Ensure maintenance schedules and instructions, derived from technical investigations, are practical, operable, supportable, and compliant with relevant maintenance policy and regulatory bodies.
  • Present outcomes of maintenance investigations to the maintenance review board for review and/or approval.
  • Engage with key stakeholders and subject matter experts within the Babcock/NZDF maintenance community.
  • Provide support to RNZN Ship Staff to ensure maintenance amendment requests are investigated and presented.


About you


You’re an experienced Electrical Technician within a maintenance delivery environment, perhaps looking to come off the tools or move into a different direction. You hold a vocational qualification / certificate in a related discipline and have had exposure to weapons systems and/or sensors systems. You have previous experience with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and strong analytical skills. Your communication skills both written and verbal are characterised by clarity and accuracy to allow you to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
