Senior Engineer

About the role

Our Centre of Engineering partners with the Royal New Zealand Navy to provide complete engineering, maintenance, repair and overhaul services to the entire fleet.  This role reports to the Dynamic Survey and Trials Manager and plays a critical role in planning, enabling and safely delivering production. 


Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide Propulsion & Diesel Systems subject matter expertise across the business
  • Provide specialist advice on diesel engine trials and analysis, maintenance amendments and technical documentation
  • Perform sea trials or following of maintenance packages when required.
  • Provide technical support to ships staff
  • Optimise maintenance strategies and monitor and review defect and maintenance records
  • Delivery of engineering products, services and systems
  • Identification, management and mitigation of engineering risks
  • Ensure ships in service, maintenance projects and engineering investigations receive specialist support in a timely manner.


About you

In addition to having an appropriate engineering degree, you will also have over eight years of experience dealing with marine propulsion and engine systems. You have experience in a multidisciplinary environment and are knowledgeable about the use of design standards and quality control techniques, such as Classification and Statutory Regulations. Engineering analysis is something you've done before, and you have produced high quality reports. You are also knowledgable with quality control procedures. Marine engineers' credentials will be seen favourably if you have a thorough understanding of engineering principles, engineering ideas, and regulatory framework. Our desired candidate would ideally have Seagoing engineering qualifications Class 3 or above, however we are looking for the right attitude, so if you tick some of these boxes, please feel free to apply.
