Principal Maintenance Engineering Technician

Babcock New Zealand is looking for a Principal Engineering Technician (Supportability) (Maintenance) to join the Devonport based team! 

 

About the role 

Reporting to the Maintenance Development Manager, you'll be at the forefront of implementing, planning, and managing mission-critical maintenance tasks for Mission System and Support System depot levels. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring top-notch product quality, and you'll take the lead in engaging with key stakeholders within the maintenance community. What's more, you'll have the opportunity to provide technical leadership and input into our Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) maintenance program. Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Responsible for implementing, planning, managing, and conducting Mission System and Support System corrective and preventive maintenance task administration: This responsibility involves overseeing and executing maintenance tasks for mission and support systems, ensuring they are carried out effectively and efficiently.

 

  • Support the Fleet Maintenance Managers in the planning and scheduling of DLM across the RNZN fleet: This involves assisting in the planning and scheduling of Depot Level Maintenance (DLM) for the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) fleet, ensuring it is done in a timely and organized manner.

 

  • Responsible for routine reporting of planned and scheduled maintenance: This responsibility includes regularly reporting on planned and scheduled maintenance to maintain accuracy in technical data within the computer maintenance management system.

 

  • Lead engagement with key stakeholders and subject matter experts: This involves taking a leadership role in engaging with stakeholders and subject matter experts within the maintenance community, facilitating collaboration and effective communication.

 

  • Provide technical leadership and inputs into ILS related activities: This responsibility encompasses providing technical leadership and expertise in various activities related to Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), including maintenance and operating task analysis, life cycle cost analysis, and technical investigations.

 

These responsibilities highlight the role's focus on maintenance planning, execution, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership within the context of mission and support systems.

 

 

About you

 

Are you a seasoned engineering professional looking for an exciting challenge? Join us as a Principal Engineering Technician (Supportability) (Maintenance) in our dynamic Marine team.

 

You will typically possess 8 years of experience in maintenance delivery, with at least 2 years of experience managing maintenance delivery programs. With a strong understanding of integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Engineering, and Maintenance Toolsets. A technical vocational qualification, such as a diploma or degree, is required. Additionally, candidates should be members of a relevant technical body, actively working towards certification, and have a strong desire for Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Essential skills and competencies include previous experience with Maintenance Management Systems (MMS), mentoring junior team members, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), a positive attitude, strong work ethic, commitment to implementing continuous improvement activities, and the ability to use initiative and effectively prioritize workload. Desirable experience includes familiarity with the NZ Navy Computerized MMS.
