Babcock is looking for a Marine Mechanical Fitter to join the Workshop team based in Devonport, Auckland.

You’ll handle essential maintenance, repair, and overhaul of propulsion machinery, pumps, and auxiliary systems. • Full-time/40+ hours per week

• $44ph (Trade Cert Essential)
• 1.5x paid after 40hrs
• 2x paid after 43hrs

About you

You are a highly skilled mechanical tradesperson with experience in marine or industrial settings. You thrive on solving technical challenges and can quickly diagnose and repair mechanical faults. Safety-focused and detail-oriented, you’re confident handling propulsion and auxiliary systems. You bring strong communication skills and a team-player mindset, always ready to collaborate with colleagues to complete work efficiently and safely. Flexibility and a dedication to continuous improvement are key traits that set you apart.

• Advanced mechanical problem-solving abilities
• Familiarity with propulsion and auxiliary systems
• Proficient with tools for diagnosing and repairing faults
• Strong safety awareness in a complex work environment
• Effective time and task management skills
• Ability to interpret maintenance standards and guidelines
• Skilled in using IT systems for work order management
• Team collaboration and communication skills

Key Required Qualifications

• Level 4 Trade Certificate in engineering or related field
• Full NZ Driver’s License (Class 1 minimum)
• Minimum five years’ marine or mechanical engineering experience
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental protocols
