Management Accountant

Babcock is looking for a Management Accountant to join the Finance team based in Devonport, Auckland.

 

About the role

 

Join a dynamic and innovative team at Babcock (NZ) Ltd as a Management Accountant. Based in Devonport, you'll play a crucial role in improving organizational performance through meticulous financial analysis and reporting. You will prepare and analyse financial statements, manage monthly forecasts, and support the delivery of consolidated financial reports. You'll also ensure accurate commentary accompanies financial data to guide decision-making, manage the capex budget tracker, and provide weekly cost updates for commercial projects.

 

As a Management Accountant, you'll work closely with operational budget holders and the global finance team, promoting best practices and maintaining robust financial controls. You'll be responsible for foreign currency reporting, IFRS16 compliance, intercompany reporting, and maintaining the general ledger. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

 

About you

 

You are a detail-oriented, Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. You have advanced spreadsheet skills, proficiency in ERP systems, and a strong understanding of complex accounting processes. You excel at translating concepts into practical solutions and can engage effectively with multi-disciplinary stakeholders. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing tight deadlines with ease. Your proactive approach, comprehensive communication skills, and ability to maintain accurate records make you the ideal candidate for this role.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Commerce
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effective documentation and record-keeping abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proactive problem-solving approach
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in a commercial and financial environment
  • Effective time management and the ability to manage deliverables to schedule
