Babcock is looking for a Management Accountant to join the highly-skilled Finance team based in Devonport, Auckland.

As part of the Finance & Corporate team, you'll prepare financial reports, manage budgets, ensure compliance, and deliver consolidated reports. You'll also develop financial models, assist in managing financial controls, and build relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

 

Financial Reporting & Analysis: Develop models and tools for comprehensive financial reporting and analysis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in preparing monthly statements and forecasts.

Budget Management: Assist in managing budgets, including capex tracking, fixed assets, and preparing Babcock NZ budgets and forecasts aligned with group timelines.

Compliance & Standards: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, including IFRS16 and intercompany reporting, while maintaining accurate general ledger reconciliations and journals.

Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with operational budget holders and Babcock global finance, providing clear commentary and follow-up on queries.

Process Improvement: Drive best practice accounting processes throughout the organization, ensuring standard processes and controls are documented for Finance department activities.

Team Culture Promotion: Promote a positive team culture aligned with Babcock's purpose and principles, encouraging collaboration and communication within the team and across departments.

 

About you

 

As the ideal candidate, you are a Chartered Accountant with advanced spreadsheet skills and ERP system knowledge, ensuring accurate financial reporting.

 

Your strong communication skills enable clear commentary and effective decision-making. With proactive problem-solving and time management, you thrive under pressure. Your ability to engage stakeholders and drive best practices in accounting processes is invaluable.

 

Additionally, your innovative thinking and flexibility contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Key Required Skills

 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Advanced skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for financial analysis, reporting, and presentation.

Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret financial data, analyze trends, and prepare concise reports for stakeholders.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring data integrity.

Effective Communication: Clear and concise communication skills, both written and oral, for articulating financial concepts and findings to various stakeholders.

Proactive Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues proactively, working efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines.

Knowledge of Regulatory Frameworks: Understanding of relevant accounting standards and regulations applicable to commercial and financial environments.
