Engineer - Propulsion Systems - Fleet Diesel Inspector

 

About the role 

 

Reporting to the Operational Support Manager Propulsion Systems, the Engineer - Propulsion Systems - Fleet Diesel Inspector will Provide oversight to the Operational Support Platform Systems team, ensuring the quality and accuracy of engineering outputs whilst managing internal and external relationships to deliver operational support services, defect response times and achieve vessel availability targets.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

 

Ensure high-quality engineering outputs by adhering to customer requirements, codes, and regulations, while mitigating risks and making single-domain engineering decisions.

Conduct single-domain technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment/resolution and for design of improvements.

Contribute to the production and maintenance of accurate technical documentation to support assigned tasks and ensure thorough knowledge capture throughout the project lifecycle.

Provide expert guidance in Propulsion System Engineering, ensuring consistently high-quality output, adherence to regulations, risk mitigation, and informed decision-making throughout project lifecycles, alongside maintaining awareness of relevant techniques and technologies.

Contribute to the development and execution of departmental strategy, ensuring alignment, oversight, and continual improvement of engineering processes, resources, and initiatives to support organizational goals and foster innovation and sustainability.

 

 

About you

 

You’re an experienced Engineer with a NZ recognised or Washington Accord accredited degree in an Engineering discipline, ideally working towards Chartership.

With approximately 6 years of relevant experience in technical / engineering roles, your expertise includes strategic management, coupled with a deep understanding of engineering principles and regulatory frameworks. With your proficiency in engineering toolsets such as PLM or MRP systems, along with design and simulation software, you excel in driving performance improvements and delivering successful propulsion systems projects.


You must either hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain a NZSIS security Clearance at Top Secret Vetting level with no restrictions to accessing ITAR controlled materials.
