Electrical Technician

Babcock is looking for an Electrical Technician to join the Technical team based in Devonport, Auckland.

About the role

 

Join a high-performing technical team working on critical marine and industrial electrical systems. This role offers hands-on involvement across installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault finding for complex equipment, including power generation, propulsion, and control systems. You’ll work in a dynamic defence environment where quality, safety, and precision are paramount, contributing directly to mission-ready outcomes.

 

You’ll be supported with ongoing training, exposure to advanced technologies, and opportunities to develop your technical expertise— from EEHA qualifications to fibre optic certification. This is a role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, takes ownership of their work, and thrives in a collaborative team.   • $51-$55 per hour (Trade Cert & EWRB registration dependent)
  • OT rates paid at 1.5x for first 3 hours and 2x for anything beyond that

You are a skilled Electrical Technician with strong experience across industrial or marine systems. You confidently install, test, and troubleshoot complex equipment, working safely and efficiently to meet deadlines. You bring a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving ability, and pride in quality workmanship. You communicate clearly, support team outcomes, and adapt to new technologies. With a solid technical foundation and a commitment to continuous improvement, you are ready to contribute in a high-performance, safety-critical environment.

Key Required Qualifications

 

  • National Certificate in Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent
  • Electrical Practising Licence (full registration)
  • Relevant industrial or marine electrical experience
  • Familiarity with quality assurance standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
