D2 Design Draftsperson

Marine Industrial Design is looking for a D2 Design Draughtsperson to join the team based in Devonport, Auckland.

 

Marine Industrial Design (MID) is a New Zealand based Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering design consultancy with a reputation for providing practical and proven marine design engineering  solutions to our clients.   As a wholly owned subsidiary of Babcock (NZ) Limited, MID complements and supports the Babcock’s commercial and naval engineering capabilities within New Zealand

About the role

As a Design Draughtsperson, you’ll work on diverse projects, from detailed CAD drawings to feasibility studies, ensuring precision and creativity in every deliverable. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers and project managers, gaining exposure to marine and engineering practices while contributing to high-profile projects.

You are a confident, detail-oriented professional with a passion for precision and design. You thrive in CAD environments, mastering Autocad and Inventor to produce accurate, high-quality drawings. Your ability to manage time, communicate effectively, and solve technical challenges sets you apart. You’re customer-focused, ethical, and ready to lead projects while mentoring others. Key Required Skills


•    Proficiency in CAD software (Autocad, Inventor)
•    Skilled in 3D modelling
•    Technical research and analytical skills
•    Time management and planning
•    Accuracy and attention to detail
•    Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills
•    Report writing and documentation
•    Ability to work effectively in a team

 

Key Required Qualifications


•    Relevant trade qualification (essential)
•    Diploma or equivalent in a technical discipline (desirable)
•    Minimum two years’ CAD design experience
•    Membership of an engineering body (desirable)
