Configuration Manager
Auckland, NZ, 0624
Babcock is looking for a Configuration Manager to lead the Engineering Configuration team based in Devonport, Auckland.
About the role
Take the lead in shaping the configuration and data management framework for New Zealand’s Maritime Fleet Sustainment Services. In this role, you’ll design and oversee processes that maintain accuracy and integrity across complex engineering solutions—covering baselines, change control, audits, and lifecycle governance.
This is a high‑impact leadership position where your decisions matter. You’ll manage a skilled team, drive continuous improvement, and deliver technical documentation that underpins through‑life knowledge capture. With direct engagement across internal and external stakeholders, including NZDF and RNZN, you’ll influence outcomes that keep maritime assets safe, reliable, and mission‑ready. If you thrive on technical complexity and want to make a lasting contribution to national defence capability, this is your opportunity.
About you
You design and implement robust CM/DM frameworks, establishing baselines and governing change with confidence. You’re fluent in PLM/MRP/ERP, and you turn complex, multi‑disciplinary inputs into clear decisions, documentation, and auditable records. You lead teams, plan scope, and deliver to time, quality, and cost. You present effectively to NZDF/RNZN stakeholders, manage data integrity and continuously improve processes. With ~10 years’ engineering experience and ~2 years’ CM/DM leadership, you’re clearance‑eligible and committed to CPD.
Key Required Skills
• Mastery of configuration and data management processes
• Proficiency with PLM/MRP/ERP toolsets
• Establishing baselines, change control, and configuration governance
• Status accounting, verification, and audit execution
• Producing, reviewing, and approving technical documentation
• Team leadership, planning, and resource management
• Stakeholder engagement; leading reviews, boards, and technical communications
• Product safety risk assessment and mitigation
Key Required Qualifications
• Technical vocational qualification (diploma/associate degree) in a related discipline
• Recognised CM/DM training (e.g., EIA‑649)
• ~10 years relevant engineering experience, including ~2 years CM/DM management
• Eligibility for NZ Defence Security Clearance (SV) and ITAR access
