Babcock New Zealand are looking for a Business Analyst to join our Operational Excellence team in Devonport, Auckland.
About the role
The Business Analyst is responsible for the ongoing reporting and management of Operational Excellence initiatives as well as the ongoing adoption of reporting and analysis requirements as business needs change and the business grows across the Asia Pacific region.
Key responsibilities
- Gathering and Analysing Business Data: The Business Analyst is responsible for eliciting and understanding business data and reporting requirements through stakeholder engagement, evaluating existing reporting functions, and assessing current reporting systems and KPI metrics.
- Performance Measurement and Reporting: This role involves developing templates and an integrated, dashboard-style Operational Excellence reporting system that spans financial, program and project performance, supply chain performance, contract management, business development, HSEQ, HR, and various other operational KPI metrics. It includes ensuring data accuracy and timeliness on Operational Excellence improvement initiatives.
- Process Improvement and Change Management: The Business Analyst is expected to identify, map, and analyse processes across the business and optimize them through lean improvements. Additionally, they need to fully engage with staff before, during, and after change activities and collaborate with stakeholders at various levels to improve the Business Management System (BMS).
- Project Management: Strong practical Project Management experience is required to assemble business cases, monitor changes, and adapt reporting structures and analysis methodologies as customer and business needs change.
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial for presenting briefings to senior management, managing cross-functional teams, and undertaking effective stakeholder engagement across a broad base of internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills
- Project Management and Change Management: Practical experience in Project Management and Change Management is essential to lead business improvement projects and manage the human aspects of change effectively.
- Analytical Skills: The role requires the ability to analyse data, evaluate reporting functions, and identify opportunities for growth and Operational Excellence improvement initiatives.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for presenting findings to senior management and effectively conveying information to stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Proven ability to use MS Office applications at a skilled level is important for data analysis and reporting tasks.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: The Business Analyst should have a proven ability to work as part of a team, manage cross-functional teams, and establish effective working relationships with various people at different levels, both internally and externally.
