Commercial Director (Land Equipment Support)

About the role

 

Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a proven Commercial Director to lead on all business commercial activities in relation to our Equipment Support line of business.  You will be responsible for interfacing with the customer on commercial matters affecting the Equipment Support contracts.

 

You will also be expected to be involved in change and growth opportunities predominantly relating to the Equipment Support business noting that flexibility is required to support the wider Defence business as requirements demand. In addition, you will be expected to play a leading role within the Defence Business Unit commercial function and participate in functional team meetings and initiatives aimed at improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the commercial team.

 

You will represent the commercial interests of the business in securing further high value and profitable contracts, supporting the bid management process through the development of commercial innovative solutions and establishing and maintaining constructive relationships, having frequent and extensive contact with existing and potential customers and partners at senior and strategic levels, requiring discretion and sensitivity in developing and protecting the commercial interests of the business.

 

As well as leading and advising on legal structures and allied commercial arrangements, drafting and negotiating JV agreements, contracts, sub contracts, leases, licences and other business arrangements, you will also be accountable for quantifying and mitigating risk, whilst exploiting opportunities for reward and liaising with any legal and financial advisors as appropriate.

 

What do I need to do the role?

 

You will have demonstrable experience at a senior level of delivering against a commercial strategy, including establishing and maintaining effective customer relationships as well as proven success at a senior level in developing and managing transformational activities in a large engineering (or similar) organisation.

 

You will also be educated to degree level, and have experience in influencing and negotiating in a complex, contractual environment, preferably in the Defence sector, and demonstrate leadership competence in a complex and dynamic environment.

 

What else do I need to know?

 

This role could be considered for flexible working.

 

The nature of services with the Equipment Support line of business requires a high degree of flexibility for all staff; there may be a requirement for regular travel between sites within the UK and overseas
