About the role

 

Reporting to the Executive Director Strategy & Future Business, the Head of Stakeholder Engagement & Reputation will be integral in leading Babcock Australasia’s engagement activity, enhancing Babcock’s reputation at the local, regional, national and global level.

 

Based in either Adelaide or Canberra, you will lead a team and set strategy and direction on stakeholder engagement across government relations, corporate affairs, our sustainability agenda, marketing, events & communications initiatives to ensure strategically appropriate and reputation enhancing actions are taken.

 

To be successful in this role you will need to be focussed on proactive communications and engagement and cultivate your connections with media, PR, industry associations, government advisers and officials to influence appropriately at a strategic level.  You should have strong political, economic and social issues acumen and employ this to build the brand of Babcock Australasia.

 

As the guardian of our brand, some of the key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Deliver a strategy to ensure our approach to government relations ensures staying current on existing and proposed policies and programs;
  • Develop, deliver and manage PR & communications through suitable media to enhance our reputation and support our business strategy;
  • Deliver proactive, strategy led, communication activities to ensure community relevance, group alignment, local brand management, and campaign creativity;
  • Support Babcock Australasia to develop our local sustainability agenda that aligns with the overall Group approach;
  • Leadership of an internal team and contractors or consultants to ensure utilisation & efficiency targets are achieved;
  • Lead the integrated digital marketing strategy that supports brand engagement and the positioning of Babcock in key Australasian markets;
  • Lead strategies to deliver clear, concise and consistent messaging across all marketing communications and channels for both internal and external communications for the region;
  • Create best practice communication tools and templates to support Executive Committee members to communicate with credibility both internally and externally.
  • Deliver marketing and event activity to support the enhancement of our brand, reputation, and image both locally and internationally.

 

 

About You

 

You will have exceptionally strong skills in stakeholder engagement, policy and government affairs.  Your previous experience within the private sector coupled with your government advisory exposure will ensure you’re able to successfully deliver for the business.

 

Although a background in marketing and communications will be highly regarded, it is essential that you have a strong background in stakeholder engagement and the ability to manage our strategic reputation.  We are seeking someone who has had experience in a large corporate environment where alignment with Group strategies is important – but making this locally relevant is essential.

 

To be considered for this role, you will require:

 

  • Extensive experience in Government Relations and Corporate Affairs (essential);
  • Marketing and communications strategy knowledge and experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in leading campaigns , proactively and creatively;
  • Strong proactive issues management experience with the political, economic and social acumen to identify issues before they become problems;
  • People management and leadership;
  • Extensive experience in marketing, communications and business development;
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills;
  • A demonstrated commitment to driving commercial outcomes;
  • Demonstrated passion, innovation, collaboration and positivity;
  • Demonstrable experience in a professional services environment.
