About the Role
Babcock Australasia is seeking a Trade Control Manager to help lead our export and trade compliance function. This is a pivotal role ensuring our operations meet the requirements of Australian, UK, and US export control frameworks, including ITAR and EAR, while safeguarding the handling of sensitive technology and data.
As the subject matter expert, you’ll oversee end‑to‑end management of trade controls, lead steering committees, and act as the central point of contact for regulatory matters. You’ll liaise with government authorities, guide business units on compliance, and provide strategic advice to senior leadership. With responsibility for audits, corrective actions, and governance frameworks, you’ll ensure Babcock remains compliant while driving continuous improvement.
This is a leadership role with 3–4 direct reports, where you’ll balance technical expertise with people management, supporting projects, training, and security initiatives across the business. To be successful, you will bring:
- Australian Citizen with a current Defence Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain).
- Tertiary education in a relevant field (law, engineering, etc.) preferred.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Australian, UK and U.S export controls.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the Defence industry.
