About the Role 


Babcock has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Aviation and Critical Services team, following an internal move. This role sits at the centre of our work delivering aerial emergency medical services, search and rescue, surveillance and aerial firefighting operations—capability that directly supports communities across Australia.

 

You’ll bring senior commercial expertise to a fastpaced, highimpact environment, partnering with business units to shape strategy, support business development and ensure our commercial interests are protected. The role spans commercial management, procurement, subcontracting and bid support, with responsibility for guiding complex tenders, developing commercial strategies, drafting contractual documentation and managing risk across major opportunities.

 

You’ll work closely with various stakeholders, ensuring commercial models, delivery approaches and financial structures align to create compelling, compliant and competitive solutions. You’ll contribute to governance reviews, lead or support negotiations, manage subcontractor relationships and play a key role in transitioning newly awarded contracts into delivery. As a senior leader, you’ll also mentor and develop your team, fostering capability and commercial excellence across the function.

 

This is a rare chance to step into a senior commercial role with real influence, working across diverse aviation and emergency services programs while shaping the commercial direction of a growing business.

To be successful, you will bring

  • Relevant experience in Defence, Commercial and Aviation industries.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial, contracts, subcontracts, procurement, supply-chain engagement and business management.
  • Experience of engaging with national and international customers and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of managing trade controls compliance including importing and exporting.
  • A passion for written communications, creativity with attention to detail and accuracy and a desire to deliver complex high-quality business outcomes.
  • Sound understanding of legal principles.
  • Commercial, civil, defence and government experience desirable.
