About the Role

Babcock is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Manager to oversee the finance operations of our JP9101 program — a major Defence initiative supporting the Defence High Frequency Communications System, a sovereign capability that delivers long‑range secure and non‑secure communications across Australia. This is a high‑impact role at the centre of a technically complex and nationally significant program.

 

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the financial integrity, performance and operational effectiveness of the program, working closely with Commonwealth customers, senior stakeholders and internal Babcock teams. The role requires someone who is technically strong, commercially astute and confident managing relationships across a diverse group of specialists.

 

You’ll lead a team of finance professionals, guiding their development while driving high‑quality financial insights, improved analytics and strong governance. The role involves balancing short‑term operational priorities with medium‑term planning, anticipating risks and opportunities, and continuously improving financial processes and systems. A deep understanding of contract requirements and a commitment to exceptional customer service are essential, as you’ll play a key role in ensuring the program delivers on scope, performance and value.

You will bring

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
  • Professional qualification in CA/CPA
  • Extensive experience in financial business partnering, including leadership of teams and strategic financial planning across complex environments.
  • Commercial, Contract, Sub Contract experience in Defence or construction industry and understanding of contracting methods including EAC, Fixed Price.
  • Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).
