About the Role

Babcock is seeking a strategic and people-focused Senior Finance Manager to lead financial performance across our Defence contracts. Based in our Adelaide CBD regional head office, this role reports to the Head of Operations – Accounting and Performance and plays a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy, driving operational outcomes, and influencing business direction.

This is a leadership role that blends technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement. You’ll oversee a team of senior finance professionals and technical specialists, guiding forecasting, reporting, and analytics to support informed decision-making. You’ll work closely with Commonwealth customers and Babcock Project Directors to ensure financial integrity, contract alignment, and high-quality service delivery.

As part of the business unit leadership group, you’ll contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives, transformation programs, and strategic forums. You’ll be responsible for managing financial governance, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving continuous improvement across systems and processes. Your ability to build relationships, lead with purpose, and deliver insights will be key to your success.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Australian Citizenship with a Defence Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain).
  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification in CA/CPA
  • Extensive experience in financial business partnering, including leadership of teams and strategic financial planning across complex environments.
  • Commercial, Contract or Subcontract experience in Defence or other high - risk industries and understanding of contracting methods including EAC, Fixed Price, Cost plus.
