About you
You are a finance professional with a strong foundation in accounting and a keen interest in supporting strategic business objectives through insightful financial analysis. With a degree in Accounting or Finance, and ideally holding or working towards CA or CPA accreditation, you bring advanced Excel skills, excellent communication abilities, and a talent for translating complex financial data into meaningful insights for non-financial stakeholders. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with precision and demonstrating strong business acumen and commercial awareness. Experience with ERP or financial software is an advantage, but your ability to listen, problem-solve, and collaborate effectively is what sets you apart.
About the role
As a Land Management Accountant at Babcock, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Finance Manager to deliver effective financial decision support systems and analysis. You will be responsible for contract reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, while partnering with key personnel to provide financial guidance across ongoing and ad-hoc projects. Your work will include overseeing month-end close activities, project invoicing, debtor management, cash flow reporting, and customer reporting, as well as assisting with statutory compliance requirements such as tax, audit, and financial reporting. You will monitor and update business processes and controls, initiate improvements to procedures, and contribute to the wider finance team with ad-hoc support. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on Babcock’s operations, ensuring financial integrity and enabling program managers to achieve strategic and commercial objectives.
To be successful in this position, you will bring;
- Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Defence Security Clearance as defined by AGSVA guidelines
- High level of communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
