HSEQ Training Manager

About the role

As we look to continue our growth and expansion within defence, we are seeking to have a HSEQ Training Manager to join our team to lead our endeavours to embed training programs, and mature existing training capabilities across our organisation. Working with our diverse workforce, you will hold responsibility for developing and delivering training to all our employees; from the workshop, through to the senior leadership team.  Key responsibilities include:


  • Establish, maintain and continually improve the Babcock HSEQ training framework in line with regulatory, company, customer and industry best practice;
  • Conduct training need analysis for all roles and develop a HSEQ training continuum based on operational risk exposure, internal and external stakeholder requirements
  • Work with Procurement to provide input to assessing, approving and managing external training providers to ensure require standards, training needs and value for money is achieved
  • Develop and manage HSEQ training programs for internal and external stakeholders based on monitoring and analysis of operational requirements
  • Work collaboratively with customers, contractors and sub-contractors to identify opportunities for the delivery of mutually beneficial training based on the unique nature of operations and enhance industry partnerships
  • Draw insights and provide reporting to Executive and Senior stakeholders to ensure  internal and external HSEQ training compliance
  • Design deliver, facilitate internal HSEQ training including development and maintenance of training plans and other training materials so that participants learning outcomes are achieved
  • Regularly manage, review and update internal training plans and relevant training resources to ensure they meet regulatory, company, customer requirements and industry best practice.
  • Work with specialist external consultants / training providers to ensure programs are designed and delivered to meet required learning objectives, including program pre-work and post-work, and for onsite projects.


Ideally you will have

The successful candidate will have a combination of HSEQ experience, and training experience, with an inherent operational understanding of safety. You will thrive working with ambiguity, and ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
  • Diploma in Work, Health and Safety;
  • Prior experience designing and delivering HSEQ training using various training methods across all organisational levels; and
  • Prior experience conducting training needs analysis and development of training metrics.
