About the role
Are you an experienced HSE leader looking for an opportunity to influence safety performance across complex Defence and mission-critical programs?
We are seeking a highly motivated HSE Manager to support our Mission & Support Systems (M&SS) Business Unit. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, M&SS, with a dotted line to the Head of HSEQ, this is a key leadership role responsible for driving health, safety and environmental excellence across a diverse and dynamic operational environment.
As the HSE Manager, you will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of HSE strategies, frameworks and initiatives that support safe, compliant and high-performing operations. Partnering closely with Program Managers, operational leaders, HSE Advisors and the broader HSEQ team, you will provide expert guidance on risk management, legislative compliance, assurance activities and incident prevention while fostering a strong, positive safety culture.
This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact by shaping HSE performance across the business, influencing stakeholders at all levels and supporting strategic objectives within a complex Defence and mission support environment. You will play a pivotal role in embedding a proactive and learning-focused approach to health, safety and environmental management while championing continuous improvement and operational excellence.
We're looking for a collaborative and influential leader with strong HSE experience, a passion for improving workplace safety, and the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation.

To be successful, you will bring
- Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).
- Experience as a senior safety advisor or safety manager within construction industry, mining, oil and gas, Defence, or highly regulated industry.
- Environmental management experience.
- Experience leading audits and investigations.
- Sound knowledge of AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018, WHS legislation and standards relevant to the M&SS BU activities.
- Experience in the development of comprehensive HSE plans and safe working procedures.
