About the role

As our Principal Configuration Management Officer, you will plan and apply configuration management knowledge competently to deliver complex configuration management solutions for products and services throughout the lifecycle of the Collins Class Submarine Program. Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader - Design and Configuration, you will also provide leadership and advice to colleagues while further developing experience and skills that will ensure best outcomes for the Program.

 

Responsibilities include:           

  • Participate in the management of plans, processes, and procedures to ensure configuration management integration with all operational areas.
  • Plan, deliver and monitor activities related to configuration management throughout the lifecycle of the program/product, ensuring requirements are delivered to time, quality and cost.
  • Seek and share good practice and knowledge locally, keep up to date with advancements in relevant technical areas and continue to develop skills and capabilities, to continuously improve both own and colleagues' practice and professional development.
  • Conduct technical investigations and analysis to support configuration outputs in areas of engineering change management and configuration audits.
  • Apply knowledge to produce and review technical documentation and solutions in support of configuration Management.
  • Apply sound technical data management practices to ensure accurate and appropriate records are developed and controlled within the PLM system.
  • Support technical information presentation and discussion (including formal reviews) with customers (internal and external).
  • Contribute to succession planning and talent management, including the technical and professional development of team members, to enable a sustainable engineering and technical capability.
  • Lead process improvement within the product lifecycle to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time and asset utilisation.

 

About you

You've got 8+ years experience in relatable technical/engineering roles and 2+ years experience in configuration management. You possess a good understanding of Configuration Management toolsets such as PL< or MRP systems. You've got proven ability to identify, develop and implement process, procedural and system improvements.

 

 

  • Hold or be eligible to hold and maintain an NV1 security clearance
  • Hold a technical vocational qualification (diploma or associate degree) in related discipline or completed certified training in configuration management specialism.
  • Member of a relevant technical body with certification and with a desire for Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

 

Desirable:

  • Previous Configuration Management experience within Defence or Defence Industry; and
  • Experience using Teamcentrer and IFS
