About the Role

At Babcock, our continued growth, internal career progression, and commitment to delivering exceptional commercial outcomes have created opportunities for multiple Commercial Specialists to join our Aviation, Defence and Corporate teams.

Reporting to a Senior Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the business across the full contract lifecycle, providing commercial expertise that enables successful project delivery, drives business growth, and protects Babcock's commercial interests. Working closely with project, finance, procurement, and operational stakeholders, you will contribute to contract management, customer engagement, commercial governance, bid support, and risk management activities.

This is a dynamic and varied role where no two days are the same. You will support the preparation and management of customer contracts, assist with tender and bid activities, provide commercial guidance to operational teams, and help ensure contractual obligations are effectively managed. You'll also contribute to commercial governance processes, compliance activities, risk mitigation strategies, and the development of strong customer and stakeholder relationships.

To be successful, you will bring:

 

  • Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Business, Commence, Law, Finance or equivalent working experience.
  • Relevant experience required in ASDEFCON contracts, subcontracts, procurement, supply chain, finance or program/project management, preferably in a Defence context and/ or large corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality written communications, applying creativity, strong attention to detail, and accuracy to deliver complex business outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of legal principles and how they apply within a commercial or contractual environment.
  • Proven capability to manage workload independently, balance competing priorities, perform effectively under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with a high level of discretion and professionalism.
