About the role

As a Commercial Manager, you’ll provide trusted commercial leadership across Babcock’s Mission & Support Systems business, partnering with stakeholders throughout the full contract lifecycle.

 

From supporting new business opportunities and contract negotiations through to delivery and customer engagement, you’ll help ensure commercial outcomes align with business objectives while protecting Babcock’s interests and managing contractual risk.

Working closely with project teams, customers, Finance, Procurement, Legal and other key stakeholders, you’ll provide strategic commercial advice, oversee contract governance, and develop innovative commercial solutions.

 

You’ll play a key role in bid activities, contract management, risk mitigation, change management, and continuous improvement, ensuring commercial best practice is embedded across the business and contributes to successful project delivery.


About you

You are an experienced commercial professional with a strong understanding of contract management, commercial governance, and risk management within complex project environments.

 

Confident interpreting and negotiating contracts, you build trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders while balancing commercial outcomes with sound business judgement.

 

Your ability to think strategically and provide practical advice enables project teams to navigate commercial challenges with confidence.

 

With strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, you’re comfortable influencing stakeholders at all levels and driving continuous improvement across commercial processes.

 

Most importantly, you’re motivated by delivering value, supporting business growth, and contributing to projects that make a meaningful impact.

 

To be successful in this position you will bring:

 

  • Degree in Business, Commerce, Law, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience in commercial, contracts or related roles within a complex defence environment.
  • Strong experience in contract negotiation, bid/tender support and customer facing roles.
  • Experience working across the contract lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial principles, contracting frameworks, and risk management practices.
  • Understanding of government contracting environments and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
