About the Role
Babcock is looking for an Accountant, Payroll and Labour to join our corporate team in the Franklin Street office. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll and labour cost accounting across our Australian and New Zealand operations. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working across multiple systems, collaborating with HR and Finance teams, and driving improvements in how payroll data is managed and reported.
In this position, you’ll oversee the end‑to‑end flow of labour data across HR, Payroll, Timekeeping and the General Ledger, ensuring everything is accurate, compliant and aligned with accounting standards. You’ll reconcile payroll information, resolve discrepancies, prepare reports and metrics for governance and statutory requirements, and support labour costing, accruals and provisions.
You’ll also play a key role in improving processes and controls, working with stakeholders to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort and strengthen data quality across all payroll‑related systems. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role where your attention to detail and problem‑solving skills will make a real difference to the business.

To be successful, you will bring:
- Australian Citizenship with a Defence Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain).
- Accounting/Commerce Degree.
- Practical experience with payroll systems.
- Intermediate Excel Skills
- Ability to produce, analyse and present complex data to stakeholders.
