Your Role

About the role

As the Security Accreditation Specialist, you will operate at a lead level within the Cyber Security discipline, taking ownership of Cyber Security Assessment and Authorisation activities for the JP9101 program.

 

You will drive the accreditation of the system in alignment with the Defence Cyber Security Assessment & Authorisation Framework, working toward the achievement of Authority to Operate (ATO).

 

This role demands independence, sound judgement, originality and technical depth, with the opportunity to influence security outcomes across the full program lifecycle.

 

You will conduct cyber risk assessments, oversee implementation and ongoing assurance of security controls, lead incident response and investigations, and engage confidently with ICT teams, subcontractors and Defence stakeholders to ensure security requirements are embedded, effective and sustainable.

About you

You’re a credible cyber security specialist who brings deep experience in accreditation, audit and assurance within complex, high-assurance environments.

 

You understand how to interpret and apply Australian Government security frameworks in a practical way, balancing compliance with operational reality.

 

Confident making specialist technical decisions, you’re comfortable operating across the full system lifecycle, from design and integration through to sustainment.

Equally important is your ability to influence and collaborate. You can lead technical discussions, present confidently in formal reviews, and work constructively with engineers, ICT teams and senior stakeholders.

 

With a continuous improvement mindset, you look for smarter ways to strengthen threat detection, response and resilience, while mentoring others and contributing to a strong, security-focused culture across the organisation.

 

To be successful in this position you will bring:

 

  • A wealth of relevant experience in relatable technical roles, including several years of Security experience in Defence environment.
  • Extensive experience in managing applicable technical delivery.
  • Excellent working knowledge of COMSEC principles.
  • Hold a technical vocational qualification (diploma or associates degree) in related discipline
  • Completed additional training in cyber security.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
