About the Role
Babcock is on the lookout for a dynamic and proactive Health, Safety and Environment Advisor to join our team! Due to an internal promotion, this opportunity offers the chance to play a key role in supporting two Defence contracts within our Land Domain. Operating in highly regulated environments, Babcock delivers integrated asset management, mission-critical training, and engineering services for complex fleets and infrastructure.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the HSE Manager to embed health, safety, and environmental best practices across personnel, contractors, and stakeholders. You’ll champion a positive safety culture, leading toolbox talks and initiatives that drive engagement and continuous improvement. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring compliance with regulations while fostering an environment of learning, accountability, and risk awareness.
Beyond core HSE responsibilities, you’ll provide tailored support to the ADF Ground Support Equipment (ADFGSE) and Counter, Chemical, Biological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) contract teams. This includes implementing HSE protocols, conducting risk assessments, and leading audits and incident investigations within these specialised operational environments. Your ability to work collaboratively with Program Managers and stakeholders will ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance are met.

To be successful, you will bring:
- Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
- AQF Level 4 Qualification or Equivalent in the Field of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Risk Management or a transferable engineering-related qualification.
- Strong understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Proficient in root cause analysis and incident investigation methodologies (e.g. ICAM, Kelvin TOP-SET, TapRooT).
- Competent in using HSEQ management systems such as Synergi Life, including accurate data entry and event management.
- High proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), with the ability to generate high-quality reports and manage documentation effectively.
