About the Role
Sustainability is at the heart of our purpose of creating a safe and secure world, together. We are seeking an experienced Environment & Sustainability Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping and driving Babcock Australasia’s environmental and sustainability agenda.
Reporting to the Head of HSEQ, you will provide strategic leadership across environmental governance, sustainability performance, compliance, and continuous improvement. As the organisation’s environmental subject matter expert, you will lead the development and delivery of our sustainability strategy, oversee our Environmental Management System and ISO 14001 certification, and drive initiatives that support environmental stewardship, carbon reduction, and long-term business sustainability.
Working closely with executive leaders, operational teams, regulators, and external stakeholders, you will champion a culture of environmental responsibility while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and industry best practice. You will also lead environmental assurance, reporting, ESG initiatives, and capability development across the business, helping embed sustainable thinking into decision-making at every level.

About you
You are a passionate and influential environmental and sustainability leader who thrives in complex, high-risk industries. Combining strong operational environmental experience with expertise in sustainability strategy, ESG and sustainability reporting, you have a proven ability to drive meaningful change, strengthen environmental performance and deliver lasting business outcomes. Experienced in environmental governance, compliance and ISO 14001 management systems, you confidently engage stakeholders at all levels, lead high-performing teams and champion initiatives that create a safer, more sustainable future.
You will bring
- Australian Citizenship with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management or Environmental Sustainability.
- Strong understanding of sustainability, climate, environmental and ESG-related risks and opportunities, including the ability to translate organisational priorities into measurable business outcomes.
- Environmental Practitioner status and membership within an appropriate professional membership body such as Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (desirable).
