About the role

The URDEF (Urgent Defeects) Resolution Officer (12 month contract) is responsible for providing support to the URDEF Manager and Ship Maintenance teams for the effective management of ANZAC Class URDEFs. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review URDEF Signals daily to maintain a class view and identify any trends on ANZAC Class; 
  • Review signals to identify deficiencies and ensure Royal Australian Navy (RAN) protocols are being adhered to; 
  • Draft and release daily P1 URDEF status reports as designated by the URDEF Manager; 
  • Provide out of hours management support for URDEFs on the ANZAC Class as designated by the URDEF Manager; 
  • Advise URDEF Resolution priority for conflicting resources; 
  • Assist with complex repair plans. In particular, where reach back into Defence is required; 
  • Provide training/mentoring of MA/PM in the support of URDEFs; 
  • Sponsoring as CoA representative, Contractor access and access passes to support URDEF Resolution;  
  • Provide surge capacity to support Ship teams as directed by the URDEF Manager; 
  • Act as the Project Manager for ASSC EMAs; 
  • Provide assistance to resolve technical queries in support of ANZAC Class platforms; 
  • Identify risks associated with delivery of sustainment to the ANZAC Class, acting as Risk Owner; and   
  • Support the development and maintenance of the Maintenance Management Plan.  

 

About you

  • Extensive Naval/maritime engineering experience in maintenance and defect management; 
  • Knowledge of engineering maintenance practices; 
  • Substantial experience working in Engineering or Defence projects (technical background in Electronic/Electrical/Mechanical or Marine systems); 
  • Experience in a complex alliance environment; 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands; 
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite of products, in particular, Word; Excel and Project A solid understanding and commitment to the principles of workplace diversity and equity; 
  • Proven ability to make sound judgments with superior problem-solving skills; 
  • Must either hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Defence NV1 Security Clearance;  
  • Eligible for access to International Traffic in Arms Regulated (ITAR) data; and 
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card).
