About the role

The Project Manager will provide leadership, planning and oversight throughout the project lifecycle. Supervising the NSM Production team in maintenance and working with external stakeholders the Project Manager will be accountable for financial, schedule and quality outcomes to ensure the External Maintenance Periods (EMP) are planned and executed to deliver the project objectives within the stipulated constraints and available resources.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide project impact assessments for proposed changes to approved project scope;
  • Manage the Key Date Schedule (KDS) and engage stakeholders to ensure the successful planning and execution of the EMP;
  • Provide support in the development and integrity of the EMP Integrated Master Schedule (IMS);
  • Responsible for Project Health reports as required to internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Chair project IPT meetings and deliver periodic project reports.


About you


  • Formal Project Management qualification and/or certification and proven experience with a minimum of 5 years in a ship maintenance delivery environment;
  • Proven experience in performance management with time, cost and quality;
  • Ability to effectively lead an Integrated Project Team and deliver ‘best practice’ outcomes;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proven ability to make sound judgements with superior problem-solving skills;
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally;
  • Highly proficient in MS Software products including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Project; and
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict.


  • Proficient in AMPS and SAP.
  • Recent career experience in the RAN or similar; and
  • Proven experience with marine classification society rules;

Essential Compliance Requirements

  • Current Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence;
  • Must either hold, or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance; and
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card).
