Job Purpose

 

Reporting to the Procurement and Supply Chain Director, the Head of Procurement and Supply Chain is responsible for the identification, initiation and implementation of effective and innovative Procurement and Supply Chain solutions to meet the needs of key customers, such that value is maximised, risks are identified and mitigated and effective relationships are developed with key suppliers.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Main duties and activities will include

  1. Leading and managing the Supply Chain Functional team (P&SC); and deputising for the Corporate Services Director as appropriate and as needed
  2. Understanding the alignment of the role to the business and seeking business deliverables and demonstrating in measurement
  3. Developing a strategy integrates the function to core business objectives
  4. Representing the function for Cavendish and alignment to group requirements
  5. Building strong working relationships with senior stakeholders in the business and professionals from other disciplines
  6. Supporting the bid & tender processes for new business and ensuring that the appropriate resources and procurement and supply chain strategies are taken into account during the bid process and that proposed supply solutions are competitive and both technically and commercially robust
  7. Driving best practice, strategic sourcing, supplier development and performance monitoring and common sourcing initiatives throughout the PPSC team, liaising as appropriate with the category management team and other procurement and supply chain colleagues both within Cavendish Nuclear and Group Procurement
  8. Ensuring that the P&SC team is working in a consistent, collaborative and proactive way across the business to develop supply chain strategies, activities and behaviours that will deliver on-going added value to the business
  9. Management of all commercial and contractual aspects relating to packages of work ensuring compliance with required corporate governance and approvals
  10. The evaluation and implementation of formal framework, alliancing and partnering supply agreements with major key strategic suppliers to ensure the delivery of added value supply solutions on behalf of the business and its clients
  11. Ensuring that the Company’s commercial position is best protected and is properly reflected through contractual and transactional processes and by designing and implementing the right relationship management structures

  3. Close involvement with suppliers to ensure that the most cost effective and technically efficient supply solutions are delivered in respect of health and safety; product and/or service quality; performance, delivery programmes and total cost of ownership
  4. Ensuring a strong health, safety and environmental ethos is applied throughout the Company’s supply chain
  5. Close collaboration with key functions such as Finance, Legal, Commercial, Assurance, Project Management, Engineering and planning to ensure that activities are well co-ordinated and enable effective project execution.

 

Experience/Qualifications/Skills

 

Experience and Qualifications 

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent
  • Corporate membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply will be an advantage
  • An experienced and pro-active procurement professional with a strong commercial and engineering industry background
  • Experience of developing and implementing sound, pragmatic sourcing solutions in a complex, project - based industry such as Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Chemicals / Pharmaceuticals, or major infrastructure
  • A significant track record in working with key internal and external stakeholders, to influence outcomes, identifies and secures opportunities to maximise value and minimise risk
  • Experience of leading teams and developing the function
  • Experience of working with sub-contract suppliers, particularly those concerned with machining, fabrications, electrical sub-assemblies and construction services
