Job Description
Project Controls includes the technical disciplines of estimating, planning, scheduling and cost engineering for which this apprenticeship gives a comprehensive grounding leading to a role as a Project Controller. The role will require the individual to participate in various areas of practical and theoretical training combined with Company specific training given in the workplace.

Typically the type of work
Project Controls Apprentices will be involved in includes assisting in the production of estimates, plans, schedules and various reports used to track and monitor project delivery across a range of Nuclear Engineering and Decommissioning projects. Training in our best in class project controls systems will also be provided.
Candidates will gain a solid foundation within a professional project environment and have the opportunity to learn from experienced and friendly individuals.

The training will include practical
and on the job training as well as the completion of a Level 3 qualification in project controls practice which is a nationally recognised qualification. During the scheme the apprentice would be eligible to apply for student membership to the Association of Project Managers (APM). On successful completion of the scheme the apprentice would be eligible to apply to join the Association of Cost Engineers (ACostE).


Qualifications & Requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grade 4 (C) or above including English, Science, and Maths at Grade 5 (B) or above. Candidates must also be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent basis and satisfy Ministry of Defence security clearance.

Any link to design technology and strong analytical / IT skills combined with a basic knowledge of projects and their lifecycle would be looked upon favourably. North West - Warrington


The successful candidate for the Warrington role will be required to undertake residential study with Bridgwater & Taunton College at the National College for Nuclear campus in Cannington, Somerset for the first 2 years of the apprenticeship scheme. They will attend on block release as follows:


Year 1 approximately 20 weeks of study between September and June.

Year 2 approximately 12 weeks of study between September and June.

Accommodation and travel expenses for residential study will be covered by Cavendish Nuclear


During Year 3 they will be based at the Warrington office full time.
