Job Title: Senior Cost Engineer

Here at Cavendish Nuclear we are seeking a proactive Senior Cost Engineer to join us in our Newbury offices.

Role Responsibilities

• Where appropriate, manage and coordinate staff and agency cost engineering resources across all project categories. Guide and train resources to ensure consistency and maintain minimum standards.
• Provision of a pro-active cost engineering service to bids and projects in accordance with procedures and systems.
• Monitor and control of commitments and accruals in conjunction with the Project Manager.
• Monitor and control current control estimate.
• Prepare and input into project detailed cost reports as per project categorisation criteria and requirements.
• Prepare detailed financial forecasts as required (generally on a quarterly basis).
• Monitor and control of change.
• Support the PM / Financial Controller in the production and analysis of cost/sale performance.
• Support the PM to assess the outturn costs / sales.
• Contribute to the identification of project risks and the quantification of financial impact.
• Input to functional heads with on-going improvements and LFE from projects.

Academic Requirements


• Minimum HNC level qualification in cost engineering or quantity surveying.
• ECITB QCF Level 5 Diploma in Cost Engineering (Cost Control)
• Member of the Association of Cost Engineers (ACE) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Experience Requirements


• Experienced in cost estimating / cost engineering experience in an appropriate sector (nuclear, process engineering, oil & gas or civil engineering
• Supervisory / managerial experience in cost estimating, cost engineering or project controls environment.
• Knowledge of forms of contract (e.g. NEC) including resolution of claims and disputes.
• Sound knowledge of recognised project management and controls principles.
• Good knowledge of the uses of commercial scheduling and estimating software.
• Full understanding of Earned Value Management techniques.


 Successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
