Job Title: RPI Apprentice Reports to: Apprentice Manager
Purpose: As an RPI apprentice you will be a part of the Metrology team who carry out the calibration and repair of radiological protection instruments. You will assist the team whilst gaining specialist knowledge as you develop yourself from a Year 1 Apprentice onto a fully qualified Radiometric Instrument Calibrator by the end of Year 4.
Location: Berkeley, Gloucestershire
Key Result Areas:
- Undertake calibration and minor repair of radiation and contamination monitors, developing specialist expertise in a critical area to support nuclear and radiological operations.
- Accurately record and present all associated results to comply with Quality Assurance standards and requirements, developing an understanding of the requirements of ISO17025.
- Record use of all spares and consumables to ensure all items are accounted for
- Provide support to instrument type-testing activities as required.
- Identify and implement initiatives to add value without effecting quality or delivery; focus on customer satisfaction is key.
Skills
- Ability to follow procedures
- Attention to detail (accurate recording of results)
Knowledge
- Five GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade C (9-5) or above, which must include Maths, English and a Science subject, together with a real interest in technical matters.
Experience
- All training will be provided on the job
- Instrument calibration experience would be an advantage
