About the role
Here at Cavendish Nuclear we are looking to recruit a Calibrator based at our site on the Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park, Berkeley.


Using your experience, you’ll provide the technical delivery capability in the calibration of radiation protection instrumentation (RPI) such as radiation and contamination monitors. You’ll be responsible for calibration and minor repair of the RPI as well as accurately recording and presenting all associated results to comply with quality assurance (QA) standards and requirements. 


The Calibrator will be proactive in maximising instrument throughput and work with integrity and impartiality, delivering a high standard of service. You’ll undertake other tasks as required to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the Metrology, Dosimetry & Field Services team.


Although this is working with Radiation Protection Instrumentation previous experience is not a necessity. 


This is a highly rewarding position working within a market leading nuclear engineering organisation. We support UK and international nuclear power stations with a range of services and strive to be best in class across our various contracts.
Role requirements


You will need to have experience in engineering or scientific role with an understanding of the principles of measurement.


We would also like you to have all or some experience with the below;

•    Ability to follow procedures
•    A high level of attention to detail (to accurately record results)
•    IT literacy
•    Ability to ask questions when unsure.
•    Basic knowledge or interest of radiation, contamination, and radiometric instrumentation (desirable)
•    Experience operating in a quality management environment to ISO 9001 and/or ISO 17025
•    Background or qualification in a scientific or engineering field
•    An understanding of measurement tolerances and uncertainties
•    A drive for self-improvement and development


What else do I need to know?
•    The role will be based at our facility on the Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park, Berkeley.
•    Nuclear experience is not a necessity, applications from all engineering & scientific backgrounds are welcomed. 
•    The role is on a permanent basis with the typical working pattern being Monday – Friday.
•    All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and be subject to satisfactory security clearance which includes 3 years reference checks. Verification of any qualifications/passport/licences must be shown at interview stage.
